Introduction to my #30dayglowup
How are you going to become the best version of yourself?
So, you've decided 2020 is your year for a glow up. You're ready to finally embrace self-confidence, live your best life and join alongside me in becoming the best version of yourself. Before we begin however, we need to set some aspirations as manifestation and goal-setting are vital components to achieving your dreams. Consider this post an introduction to my blog where I outline my current, personal glow up goals and you can decide if you want to follow my process of achieving them over the course of this blog. And so to start laying out the kind of things I'm going to be discussing, here is my glow up checklist:
- Clear skin
- Healthy, long, shiny hair
- A more toned physique
- Healthy mental well-being and self-image
- Pretty smile and white teeth
- Be happy with my piercings
- Bronzy, glowy skin
- Social media confidence
Now, I'm not by any means trying to say that without any one of those things you're not beautiful - beauty is incredibly subjective and you don't have to meet a certain societal checklist made up of principally eurocentric and predominately surface-level beauty standards to be pretty. Part of self-love is accepting yourself without feeling the need to change to consider yourself worthy. However, I believe that loving yourself enough to pursue your full potential, whatever way you define that, isn't inherently negative and as long as it doesn't overtake your appreciation of your current self then essentially, why not?
Now, for a more detailed breakdown of my specific goals:
- Clear skin - heal my acne scars, prevent further breakouts, early anti-ageing measures
- Healthy, shiny, long hair - optimise my haircare routine, find effective styling products, quick hair growth
- More toned physique - I love love the sculpted, toned look on women and want to amend my current issue of being build like a stick
- Healthy mental well-being and self-image - become comfortable and confident with my physical and psychological self
- Pretty smile and white teeth - I think having good teeth and lips make someone so much more attractive and mine are currently a bit of an insecurity which I'd like to ammend
- Be happy with my piercings - my love for rose gold jewellery is inversely proportional to the space left on my ears, so I would love to get more piercings as well as find high quality jewellery for the ones I currently have
- Bronzed, glowing skin - discover the most natural looking fake tan as I'm cursed with the natural complexion of printer paper
- Social media confidence - I want my personal social media to be a reflection of this journey of self growth
Now whilst this initial post has little to offer in terms of valued, unique insight into the glow up process I hope it gives a clear understanding of my goals whilst acknowledging the potential pitfalls of this journey. I am also going to use this to announce that this post is an introduction to what I'm going to be calling my #30dayglowup, where I post each day discussing tips and advice from my previous experience, current beauty and well being experiments and product reviews as well as my future plans with the glow up process. My goal is to keep up the personal growth in the long term and not just this month so think of these posts as a kick start to the blog and an information dump from me to keep you up to speed. I hope you enjoyed this introduction and will follow my journey along with me, and thank you for the read!
